Myanmar

Since gaining independence from Britain in 1948, Myanmar has largely been under military rule. Elections were first held just over a decade ago, but the military junta used allegations of fraud to oust elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi. What’s more, Suu Kyi has been charged with possessing illegally imported walkie talkies. President Biden has urged the coup leaders to relinquish their power. There has long been support for democracy though, and Associated Press has reported that people in Myanmar have been protesting the coup by banging pots and honking horns. One lady is not letting a military takeover get in the way of her workout.
