The defense of Ghislaine Maxwell has rested its case, with Ms. Maxwell declining to testify on her own behalf. Maxwell maintained there was no need for her to defend herself, saying that the case against her is unproven.

Derek Chauvin, the police officer at the center of the killing of George Floyd last year has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of “violating civil rights.” A guilty plea reduces the chance of a life sentence. Chauvin is set to serve 25 years for Floyd’s death.
