Green and mean

Strange things are afoot in the world of climate alarmism. Faced with massive energy shortages as Russia threatens to further cut supply, the European Union voted last week to include natural gas and nuclear power on their list of sustainable activities. Activists were critical of the move, saying it smacks of “dirty politics” and continues to fill Putin’s coffers.

Like almost everything, the green agenda has been co-opted by woke-ism. The true believers in the cult of global warming are decoupling from those who are simply aiming to reduce human impact on the planet. That is no longer enough.

Climate poster-child Greta Thunberg co-authored a piece in 2019 which asserted that “the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it. We need to dismantle them all.”

As one Tweet put it, to the ideologues any “green” solution that doesn’t upend capitalism is no solution at all.
