From medieval times the predominant set of Virtues that existed in Christendom were known as the Code of Chivalry—part four of the ‘Templar Paradigm’.
We shall deal with this primarily through two of CS Lewis's essays- one not so well known (“The Necessity of Chivalry”), and the other among his most celebrated (“The Weight of Glory”).
To this point, we have discussed the external and internal characteristics of the GOD-Royaled warrior priest that is the Christian Spiritual-knight.
Four sections comprise ‘the application’ part of the Paradigm—but to do anything well, and in this case, applying the arch-ruling spiritual paradigm over all worlds and kingdoms
— {Christianity}—
one first needs a regular discipline:
A habitus.
The habitus of a Christian man should be made up of regular, Joyful:
engagement with the word of God ( for wisdom and edification),
strength in the singing of hymns,
companionship in the praying of the Psalms,
fellowship in the reception of the Holy Communion in the Eucharist.
My personal prayer is that this section will lead to a number of local, semi-monastic orders of Eucharist-receiving praying men to form.
And from this, by GOD’s grace, the bountiful fruit of intentional Christian communities not on edifying our homes and parishes, but engaged with their wider communities within the principle spoken by JESUS at the beginning of His Sermon on the Mount:
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
As simple as this is presented, this sixth part of the Paradigm is likely going to be where the podcast will dwell the longest- it may actually need it's own sub-series of continuing episodes because there is so much important knowledge that needs to be unpacked; this is where the paradigm’s “rubber” meets the “road” of life this side of the New Creation.
In other words: practical theology.
Quite a number of resources will be explored in this section—both fiction and non; material from the previous Paradigm sections, and new material as well:
from Charlemagne to Abraham Lincoln to CS Lewis, we will see how great Christian kings, military leaders, statesmen, pastors, and sages (and similar literary characters) opposed the evil heavens machinations (‘Demonology’) through Babel-redux’s two primary vehicles of upheaval against GOD’s order:
‘Gnosticism’, ‘Transhumanism’.
(Although most modern societies know these by other names…)
